  14. <p>     DIED. Jacques Correze, 79, World War II Nazi collaborator and
  15. chairman of Cosmair, the American marketing arm of L'Oreal, the
  16. French beauty-products giant; in Paris. Correze died hours after
  17. announcing his resignation as Cosmair's chairman amid renewed
  18. controversy over his wartime pro-Nazi activities. After the war
  19. he served five years in prison in France for storing arms,
  20. building explosives and fomenting attacks on the French
  21. government. Two weeks ago, after Jewish organizations provided
  22. documents implicating Correze in raids on the homes and
  23. businesses of Jews in France in the 1940s, the U.S. Justice
  24. Department launched an investigation to determine whether he
  25. should be barred from entering the U.S. because of his former
  26. Nazi ties.
